This TED talk makes a persuasive argument that spectroscopy is more likely than radio astronomy to find life on other planets if it exists.
Imagine that we find a planet with life. You are on the first space ship to visit that planet. Once on the planet you find monkey like beings on the planet. They appear to be very playful, intelligent and to have their own culture. Should you review yourself to them?

My son and I have been arguing about life in atmospheres of Gas Giants. We read many SF books from Ben Bova (Saturn, Jupiter) and Ian Banks (Algebraist). My son believes that the gas giant atmospheres are tubulent enough to provide mixing of DNA constituents to produce life.
ReplyDeleteWhere can he find more information?
I see a water ocean as the DNA computer necessary for life. The mixing of DNA allows for the development of gene networks which provides the DNA computer with enough derivatives to fuel evolution.
